Inspirational Christian Atsu Steers Toons Back To The Summit

Black Star winger Christian Atsu hauled his New Castle United side back to the summit in the English Championship. The Toon wide man dazzled his way in the top of the table clash to force a 1-2 away at at Brighton Hove Albiom.

The on loan Chelsea winger saw his persistence paid with a perfect ball to Ayoze Perez on the stroke of full time to deny the host a late point. The nomadic winger bagged a well deserved assist as a reward for his tenacity all game long that saw the Toons reincarnated from a 1-0 defeat into an eventual 2-1 winners.

Glenn Murray shot the host ahead in the keenly contested top of the table clash before Mame Brian Diuf pulled parity for the visitors with 15 minutes on the clock.

The end to end stuff failed to record it’s third goal despite several goal scoring chances at either ends of the pitch. Christian Atsu how ever inked his name into the Toon faithful with jinking run and a precise ball to Ayoze Perez with one minute on the clock. The Ghana international exploded down the flank and his precise ball allowed Perez to finish the game on the stroke of full time .

The game ended 2-1 and eventually offered New Castle United a route back to the league summit with 23 wins from the 34 fixtures played. The Rafa-volution at the St James Park continues with 73 points and an imminent return back to the English top flight next season.

Christian Atsu Shines In Toon’s Four Goal Thriller

On loan Chelsea winger , Christian Atsu , breathed life into New Castle United promotional hopes as they clawed back a point from 2 goals down. The St James Park outfit side forced a 2-2 drawn game at home to the high flying Bristol City.

The Ghana international exploded for the second placed host in a thrilling end to end stuff on Saturday. Two early goals from Bristol City almost condemned New Castle to an image damaging defeat before two late goals forced a tie for the host.

Christian Atsu, who has enjoyed a bit of ressurection since his arrival at St James came close to icing his personal cake only to be denied by the upright. New Castle United stay second on the Championship log and within touching distance of an immediate return to the English top tier.

Atsu & Amartey make AFCON XI

Black Stars winger,Christian Atsu and defender, Daniel Amartey were named in the CAF team of the tournament at the just ended African Cup of Nations in Gabon.

It is the second successive time Atsu has made the AFCON team of the tournament after making the 2015 edition where he was also named MVP.

Daniel Amartey played in defence for Ghana

His compatriot Daniel Amartey, who played in defence for the Black Stars was named in the midfield four for the team of the tournament.

Newly crowned Kings of African football, Cameroon had three of the players makingĀ  the team, the most from any nation.

Goalkeeper: Fabrice ONDOA (Cameroon)

Defenders: Modou Kara MBODJI (Senegal), Ahmed HEGAZY (Egypt), Michael NGADEU (Cameroon)

Midfielders: Charles KABORE (Burkina Faso), Daniel AMARTEY (Ghana), Bertrand TRAORE (Burkina Faso), Christian ATSU (Ghana), Mohamed SALAH (Egypt)

Forwards: Christian BASSOGOG (Cameroon), Junior KABANANGA (DR Congo)
