Ghanaian midfielder Fred Owusu Sekyere provided a crucial assist for Richmond City Islanders in a 1-0 win over Harrisburg City in an opening game for Abass Mohammed in the USL. The former Inter Allies youngster bossed affairs for his Harrisburg City in the USL clash only for his compatriot to deny him with a superb cross.
The Saturday night clash pitch Owusu Sekyere at home to two of his country men in Ropapa Mensah and Abass Mohammed but the absence of Mensah on the match day squad made it two Ghanaians on the pitch. An end to end first half in the season’s opener inspired Owusu to take matters into his own hands and when his thunderbolt came off a wall of players at the start of recess , the experience Ghanaian resorted to the role of a provider.
A devilish cross into the 18 yard box allowed Shankosky to nod home the opener 6 minutes into the second half. The resultant goal eventually proved to be the only the goal of the night as Abass Mohammed makes a losing start to his USL career.
Ropapa Mensah and Abass Mohammed inked a one year rolling deal with Harrisburg City from Ghana Prmeir league side Inter Allies whiles Owusu Sekyere returned to the Kickers for the start to the 2017 season.
