After more than two years in charge of the Black Stars, Coach Avram Grant left his post which was shortly to expire after yet another disappointing tournament at the 2017 Africa cup of Nations in Gabon – where the Stars finished fourth.
With most Ghanaians calling for a local coach, ex-captain and legend, Stephen Appiah has added his voice.
“Trophy-wise, in Ghana it has always been local coaches that have won us trophies, personally, being a Ghanaian I would like to see a Ghanaian at the head of affairs but it all comes down to the support given the coach”
He was quick to add that, the most important thing has to do with supporting whoever the GFA appoints next as the Stars head coach.
“Being a white or local coach is not an issue. The most important thing has to do with the support given to the coach”
With the former backroom staff dissolved, the former Ghana captain has been tipped by some to be part of the new backroom staff.
