Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) has condemned maltreatment meted out to media personnel at some match centers in the Ghana Premier league. The administrative wing of the Association in a press release dubbed the attacks as barbaric and irresponsible.
Some match centers across the nation are noted for their violence and barbaric attacks on media guys and opposing club officials but SWAG is vehemently condemning such attitudes. Citing the latest on Ghana’s number one female photo journalist, Senyuidzorm Adadevor , SWAG preached against any such incident repeating its ugly face at any match centre.
“Such acts will not in any way help in the development and promotion of the league , especially at these trying moments , when the league is bereft of corporate sponsorship.
” We can only attract the needed sponsorship to support the clubs , if supporters and officials desist from such acts”, part of the statement reads.
The statement further added , “What is more worrying is the attack was supervised by a management member of the club , Mr Oluboi Commodore , who supported the act of the fans calling for the sack of the journalist from the inner perimeter of the stadium . a similar thing happened in Dormaa Ahenkora as Aduana Stars played Hearts of Oak”.
The Ghana Premier league has enjoyed enourmos coverage in recent times and any malicious character to frustrate the media fraternity must be nibbed in the bug.
