Black Stars duo of Majeed Waris and Alhassan Wakasu missed on a place in the last eight of the French league cup after losing 2-1 away to Bordeaux. The pair featured for their relegation threatened side in the cup tie as they bid good bye to the title ambitions in the league cup.
The pair, ever present in the FC Lorient set up, failed to prevent their basement side from slipping to a 2-1 defeat after taking a deserved leave away to Bordeaux. The visitors took an early lead through Benjamin Jeannot but a late rally from Laborde was enough to turn the game on its head thanks to a brace from the forward.
Waris saw 82 minutes for the visitors before been sacrificed for Roman Phillpoteaux whiles Wakaso lasted the full throttle for the Ligue I struggling side.
Lorient’s next major target will be to avoid the drop at the end of the season but their 17 defeats in 27 games must be halted if they are to sustain their top flight status.
